Job Purpose: 


The Head of Software Engineering will join our Engineering team of the Financial Services business, and lead the architecture, design and implementation of major frontend and backend functionality for mobile apps. They will manage both internal teams across multiple countries and 3rd party Software Vendors. This is a hands-on development position with responsibility for the architecture, development, deployment and maintenance of our software platforms and applications. The role will work very closely with growth, business, Infra and support teams in order to deliver quality products.



Key Objectives:



  • Design and build Financial Service mobile apps and solutions across various markets
  • Build and manage a world class team of Engineers for various projects
  • Define best-in-class methodologies to facilitate rapid development and quality releases



Main Accountabilities: 



  • Full ownership of design, architecture, implementation, quality, scalability, reliability and performance of the platforms and applications that we run
  • Adhere to up-to-date software engineering techniques to reduce coding errors and ensure robust, efficient solutions
  • Review business requirements & provide feedback
  • Review code and test cases, providing feedback to fellow developers, QA and management
  • Run scrum meetings and release planning sessions
  • Ad Hoc requirements as required by the business and approved by the HoD
  • Achieve team and company objectives



Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience: 



  • Degree in Science, Engineering, IT, Computing, or similar technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of managing high achieving full stack software teams
  • Experience developing scalable, high performance systems and mobile apps
  • Advocate of best practice with a passion for technology and documentation
  • Experience with software deployment automation
  • Experience building web back end server application using Node, Java, Spring, Python or similar
  • Strong SQL experience in developing complicated SQL statements and implement business using hibernate to access relational database
  • Experienced in building REST API, preferable in Spring environment. Well versed in security and authentication
  • Strong knowledge of AWS & Azure
  • Previous experience or a strong interest in functional programming or database administration/development
  • Experience in hands-on, in-depth analysis, review and design of software, including technical review and analysis of source code
