Deputy Chief Financial Officer


Primary objective of the job:


As a key member of the Management team, the Deputy Chief Financial Officer will report to the regional CFO, with a dotted line to the Regional CEO and assume an operational and strategic role in the overall management of the companies. The deputy CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for controlling all financial-related activities of the company and working with the group finance teams to ensure balance sheets are correctly stated. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting and business case analysis.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership in the direction to the business to meet short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
  • Ensure credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts.
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the region.
  • Make proposals for the short & long range planning
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.
  • Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities.
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the Company
  • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with reporting standards and applicable local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Ensure that all statutory files are reviewed and submitted in a timely manner
  • Be a key point of contact for the implementation of a new ERP for the region
  • Working within the shared services finance function establishing themselves as the decision maker in the region.


Academic qualifications and experience required:


  • Degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA and/or CPA highly desirable
  • Five plus (5+) years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles.


Functional skills and abilities


  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations essential.
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
