Business Intelligence Analyst

The BI Analyst position is established to correctly measure, thoroughly analyze and manage the company’s statistical and financial intelligence needs to support business and strategic decisions. The role is required to continuously track and produce analyzed reports on the macro and micro activities affecting Sales, Acquisition / Retention Costs and revenue / cost of all business products.

The BI Analyst provides details, accurate and timely insight into business performance relating to the business.



Primary objective of the job: To use customer level data to:

  • Perform in-depth statistical analysis, interpret results, and make commercial recommendations where the evaluation shows trends, detrimental impact to or opportunities for the business.
  • Provide essential reporting for the commercial and financial teams on a daily/ weekly /monthly basis
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop / implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Drive a better understanding of our customer behaviour and to identify pain points.
  • To develop strategies for implementation to present to the Senior Management Team (SMT)
  • Develop business cases Stimulate customers to increase usage,
  • To analyse processes and supporting data of internal and external customers to improve the overall customer experience
  • Act as an interface been commercial teams, product teams and technology teams


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage with key stakeholders in the business to gather and understand their business requirements and assessing feasibility
  • Define, develop and produce daily/ weekly/ monthly reports and ad-hoc reports from internal data and ensure that they are created in a timely manner with the correct information, data accuracy and integrity.
  • Manage all reporting primarily using Business Objects or other platforms as it see fits
  • Work with MIS to develop further reports to improve understanding of customer behaviour and Co-ordinate with MIS user acceptance testing for new reports
  • Produces segmented revenue, customer analysis reports, and margin analysis by revenue stream and provide best options.
  • Develop and analysis business cases, ROI, pricing models and financial evaluations.
  • Conduct large scale data analytics focusing on root cause drivers of customer’s dissatisfactions and operational inefficiencies.
  • Use a variety of Business Analysis techniques to ensure that requirements are analysed efficiently and effectively
  • Look for efficiencies in existing solutions and processes that would improve service delivery to the business
  • Act as an interface been commercial teams, product teams and technology teams
  • Build solid relationships with key internal stakeholders: VAS team, Sales team, operations team as well as IT team including Data Warehouse owners and internal customers in the Jamaican and Group management teams
  • Work across multiple initiatives at the same time 



Academic qualifications and experience required for job:

  • Minimum of a First (1st) degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent mathematical/technical discipline with proven commercial work experience and mathematical content.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a similar role
  • At least 1- 2 years Experience working within a competitive, high volume, data rich, commercial environment: telecommunications, utilities, banking, retail catalogues, government data.



Functional Skills/Competencies:

  • Demonstrated commercial / business and financial experience
  • Strong experience working with knowledge of Excel, Business Objects, and Powerpoint.
  • Strong understanding of Database creation and management 
  • Superb attention to detail, strong analytical skills and the ability to deliver results to tight deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to articulate progress, issues and recommendations in a concise summarized manners
  • Good understanding of the telecommunications space, and how the various technical systems integrate to deliver services and products to the market and to customers
  • “Can-do”, positive attitude with a mind to always quantifying what their contribution to the work is worth.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and on own initiative with the desire to learn new skills.
