Primary Objective of Job:
The Business Solutions Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Digicel's Business Solutions portfolio. This role ensures service delivery excellence by providing superior technical support to clients and maintaining high availability of solutions in line with agreed SLAs.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Solution Design & Planning
- Develop technical designs, budgets, and implementation plans for Business Solutions products (cloud services, M2M, connectivity, data management, etc.)
- Complete service questionnaires, scope of work documents, and proposals to support solution delivery
Implementation & Deployment
- Oversee end-to-end service installation at client sites
- Interface with vendors for hardware/software supply, delivery, and installation
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date network and solution documentation
Technical Support & Maintenance
- Provide timely technical support to clients and internal sales teams
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance to ensure infrastructure availability
- Respond to emergencies, outages, and potential failures within the Business Solutions infrastructure
Innovation & Improvement
- Research, evaluate, and simulate new hardware, software, and services aligned with Business Solutions strategy
- Continuously review infrastructure resiliency plans and recommend improvements
- Prepare incident and outage reports for internal teams and clients
Collaboration & Compliance
- Ensure SLA targets are met through timely response to Sales team requests
- Work closely with internal departments and external providers
- Perform any other related duties as assigned
Academic qualifications and experience required:
Education
- Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Certifications
Recognized professional certification in IT, IP, or Telecommunications (e.g., CCNA, Azure Fundamentals, MTA)
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years in implementation and maintenance of IT or Telecommunications infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with Business Solutions in a telecom environment preferred
Functional Skills:
- Strong knowledge of:
Cloud platforms (Azure, Microsoft 365)
Windows Server environments (2008+)
Networking (Cisco, Fortinet, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VLANs, firewalls, SIP)
Virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
VoIP systems (Avaya)
- Understanding of telecom Business Solutions (cloud, M2M, connectivity)
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and client communication skills
