The BI Data Analyst will develop analytic reporting models and data visualization solutions to support business performance monitoring and business decision-making. This includes a range of BI (Descriptive Solutions) and BA (Advanced Analytics Solutions), and associated development, deployment, and training activities leveraging leading edge toolsets.

The BI Data Analyst should have excellent organizational, critical thinking, communication skills and a strong working knowledge of business trends, and is able to read and analyze customer, market, and financial trends.

Individuals within the The BI Data Analyst roles identify business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs. They work closely with internal customers and IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions. It is essential that BI Analysts build an understanding of the business at a level of detail that enables them to identify and address critical issues. They provide data that is accurate, congruent and reliable, and ensure the information is easily available to users for direct consumption or integration with other systems. BI Analysts educate and train users to use the data as an analytical tool, displaying the information in new forms and content for the purpose of analysis and option exploration.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

BI Development

• Work with different stakeholders across digital and telecom divisions to integrate data sources and map data between source systems, data warehouses, and data marts.
• Scope, understand and maintain data structures across business initiatives to prepare disparate data for ingestion, automating where possible
• Collaborate with business analysts, data modelers, data scientists, testing teams and solution architects to successfully implement and maintain data transformation, including data loads in batch and real time, interface designs, data quality and standards
• Create data queries from large datasets in various formats for extraction, analysis, and modeling.
• Translate business needs to technical specifications
• Design, build and deploy BI Reporting solutions (e.g. Microsoft Power Platform & Tableau )
• Maintain and support data analytics platforms ( Data Warehouse , Analysis Services , Reporting Platform )
• Create and maintain BI Data Models ( OLAP Cubes & Data Mining  Models)
• Evaluate and improve existing BI systems

Project Planning

• Directs, organizes, and leads BI Work-Stream projects in the implementation and use of new BI software tools and systems.
• Works on highly complex, cross functional, and enterprise IT and business intelligence solutions.
• Provides subject matter expertise for key BI core functions
• Participates in work-stream planning process including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery of BI solutions.
• Develops work plans or reviews other work plan timelines and manages workflows to meet timeframes.
• Participates in project management estimation process.
• Organizes and plans for service demand forecasts.
• Conducts analyses of functional business processes and functional requirements and participates in the development of business cases in the support of process changes and/or IT projects.

Business Requirements & Analysts

• Evaluates internal and external customers’ needs and abilities in order to provide appropriate solutions.
• Provides input to business requirements for the design of solutions.
• Identifies and provides input to new technology opportunities that will have an impact on the Group Wide BI systems.
• Advises executives on how BI (processes, practices and technologies) play a critical role in improving business management and optimization.
• Explores the data and discovers patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies and trends.
• Designs group-wide “views” and custom reports.
• Perform analysis for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various platforms.
• Researches business problems and creates models that help analyze these business problems
• Develops best practices for report deployments.
• Leads or provides direction for the planning, designing, and execution of user testing efforts.
• Oversees the implementation (i.e., testing, issues resolution) of new systems or modifications. Analyzes testing results to ensure the solution meets the needs of the business.
• Provides support to test teams.
• Recommends quality metrics and ensures quality metrics are documented and tracked.
• Researches tools, frameworks and mechanisms for data analytics.
• Interfaces with vendors to keep abreast of new technologies, pricing and customer applicability. Participates in vendor evaluations.
• Trains users, including executives, to transform data into action oriented information and to use that information correctly
• Provides guidance, training, and problem solving assistance to other team members.
• Coaches less-experienced individuals.

Academic qualifications and experience required for job:

• BA/BS degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or related field 
• 5+ years Business Intelligence experience
• 5+ years of database design or integration experience with SQL Server databases
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Functional Skills:

The BI Team should understand and have expertise in the various technologies needed to design, implement and maintain BI Solutions.

• Proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Scientist
• Industry experience is preferred
• Background in Data Warehouse Design  (e.g. dimensional modeling and data mining)
• In-depth understanding of database management systems with experience in Oracle & Microsoft SQL Server. In-depth experience in SQL Queries and Ad-Hoc Exploratory Data Analysis
• Proven experience manipulating, analyzing and interpreting large data sources.
• Proven experience in integrating disparate data sources for the purposes of data analysis and reporting.
• Experience with Microsoft BI Stack. Exposure to Azure Data Solutions is a plus.
• Experience in ETL Framework. Evaluation, maintenance, and enhancement of existing ETL processes. Exposure to Microsoft SSIS , Oracle Data Integrator is a plus
• Experience with Online Analytical Processing (OLAP)  ( Multi-Dimensional & Tabular )
• Experience with Data Visualization / Reporting Tools. In-depth experience  with Power BI & Tableau

• Experience performing complex data exploitation on large volumes of data to provide tactical and strategic insights directly to analysts, business owners, and decision makers.
• Experience gathering requirements and identifying opportunities to apply data science towards business objectives.
• Experience prototyping and developing data exploitation capabilities
• Experience in the creation and implementation of algorithms and statistical techniques to resolve data science problems.
