Join our Field Operations team as a GIS Technician and play a critical role in supporting customer installations, network expansion projects, and the ongoing development of our fiber and telecommunications infrastructure.

 

About this Role

In this role, you'll work closely with engineers, technicians, sales teams, and project stakeholders to ensure network data accuracy, seamless customer activations, and efficient delivery of GIS-related solutions.

 

Role Scope

 

Network & GIS Operations

 

  • Provide real-time GIS support for customer installations and field technicians.
  • Troubleshoot GIS-related system issues and resolve network mapping discrepancies.
  • Process customer order re-raises and installation support requests.
  • Perform customer address updates, network re-associations, and infrastructure corrections.
  • Coordinate and audit Fibre Access Terminal (FAT) activities and assignments.
  • Generate FAT port assignment reports for field technicians.

 

Network Design & Mapping

 

  • Develop and maintain accurate FTTx (Fibre-to-the-X) network maps, records, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Support the design and expansion of fibre networks for both greenfield (new build) and brownfield (existing infrastructure enhancement) projects.
  • Configure and connect FATs (Fibre Access Terminals), FDTs (Fibre Distribution Terminals), and TDD-LTE (Time Division Duplex Long-Term Evolution) network elements.
  • Support Design Change Requests (DCRs), network build releases, and special projects by ensuring GIS records accurately reflect network changes.
  • Maintain network data integrity across GIS platforms while validating connectivity records, schematics, and telecommunications infrastructure layouts.

 

Reporting & Project Support

  • Prepare and maintain daily operational reports.
  • Support project delivery through accurate GIS documentation and data management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet installation timelines and service commitments.

Qualifications & Experience

 

  • Minimum of an associate degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, Surveying, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • 1-3 years' experience working with GIS applications, preferably ESRI ArcGIS and telecommunications network mapping systems
  • GIS experience (ESRI ArcGIS and Ericsson Network Engineer Map Based GIS preferred).
  • Working knowledge on Mapping of underground and aerial telecommunication infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge on Telecommunication network and connectivity infrastructure.
  • Must be able to read and understand underground/aerial schematic diagram, telecommunication
  • network connectivity and Circuit Layout Records.
  • Analytical Skills - The ability to solve problems using the GIS suite of tools.
