Job Title- Human Resources Generalist  

 

 

The primary objective of the job:

  • The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for supporting the delivery of HR programs and initiatives across the employee lifecycle by partnering with leaders and employees to provide operational and advisory HR support.
  • Support the team with executing HR processes relating to recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, employee engagement, compliance, and HR administration while ensuring positive employee experience and alignment with business objectives. 

 

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

Business Partnering & HR Support

  • Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support the implementation of HR strategies and people initiatives aligned to business objectives.
  • Build strong working relationships with leaders across assigned business units.
  • Respond to employee and manager enquiries, escalating complex matters where appropriate.
  • Support organizational change initiatives and communication activities.

 

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Coordinate recruitment activities for assigned vacancies from requisition through onboarding.
  • Schedule interviews and coordinate candidate communications.
  • Prepare offer documentation and onboarding materials.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure a positive candidate experience.
  • Support employer branding initiatives, career fairs, and university recruitment programmes.

 

Employee Relations

  • Provide first-level guidance on employee relations matters.
  • Support investigations, disciplinary processes, grievance handling, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure consistent application of HR policies and employment legislation.
  • Maintain confidentiality while managing employee issues.
  • Escalate complex employee relations matters to the HR Director where required.

 

Performance Management

  • Support the annual performance management cycle, including goal setting, mid-year and year-end reviews.
  • Monitor completion rates and follow up with managers.
  • Assist managers with SuccessFactors performance processes.
  • Support performance improvement initiatives and documentation.

 

Learning & Development

  • Coordinate learning and development programmes and training logistics.
  • Promote LinkedIn Learning and monitor completion of assigned learning.
  • Track employee development plans and mandatory training.
  • Support leadership development initiatives and internal learning events.

 

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Coordinate employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and culture initiatives.
  • Assist with employee surveys, focus groups, and action planning.
  • Support corporate social responsibility and volunteer initiatives.
  • Generate creative ideas to improve employee morale and workplace culture.
  • Assist with planning HR events and employee communications.

 

HR Operations & Administration

  • Maintain accurate employee records within SuccessFactors and other HR systems.
  • Prepare HR documentation including employment letters and personnel changes.
  • Support payroll by ensuring timely submission of approved employee changes.
  • Coordinate incentive, overtime, commission, and allowance submissions.
  • Assist with HR reporting, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee files.
  • Support continuous improvement of HR processes and documentation.

 

HR Reporting & Projects

  • Prepare monthly HR reports and dashboards.
  • Monitor HR metrics including recruitment, turnover, training, absenteeism, and performance completion.
  • Support HR transformation initiatives and special projects.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR service delivery and employee experience.

 

 

 

Academic qualification and experience required for the job:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Business Administration, Management, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, CIPD, or equivalent HR certification.
  • Certification in Microsoft Office applications (Excel preferred).
  • Experience using HRIS platforms (SuccessFactors preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years progressive Human Resources experience in a generalist role.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and HR administration.
  • Working knowledge of Jamaican Labour Laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting payroll processes and HR reporting is an asset.
