Primary objective of the job:
The role of Infrastructure Engineer is to support the management and maintenance of Digicel's on-premises IT servers and related infrastructures to support the needs of the global business. This includes supporting the group head office IT needs as well as supporting the technology teams across Digicel's operating markets. The Infrastructure Engineer works as part of a team, contributing to the delivery of first class technology services using Microsoft Windows technologies covering Windows 2012 through to the latest approved version. The role also includes on-site physical support for technology solutions deployed across a number of data centers, including SANs and high availability infrastructures in Tier-3 data centers. Given that a large part of the IT infrastructure estate is deployed in Linux, experience supporting solutions across multiple Linux flavours including but not limited to RHEL 4-8, CentOS 6, OEL 4-7, and Solaris 9/11 (SPARC, x86) is also important to succeed this role.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Microsoft Technologies – support and administer on-premises Microsoft technologies including Active Directory (AD), DNS, DHCP, NPS, RMS, Mail Relay, CA, RDS and other Remote Desktop technologies
- WIFI Services - assist in managing corporate WIFI services and related network equipment to ensure consistent, reliable connectivity for users
- Virtual Environments - support and maintain virtual server environments including Hyper-V and VMware technologies
- Office 365 Administration - provide support on the Office 365 Administration console, assist with subscription management and license allocation, and support upgrade and maintenance activities in coordination with Global IT Administrators
- Monitoring and Reporting – support the operation of infrastructure monitoring and reporting solutions to ensure all critical systems are under appropriate management, including SNMP reporting to the Global Network Operations Center (GNOC)
- Security Certificates (SSL) - assist in managing security certificates for both internal certificate authority (CA) and external providers, including timely renewals and installations
- Incident and Problem Management - provide troubleshooting support and assist in resolving incidents efficiently; escalate to senior team members or suppliers as required and contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) documentation
- Systems Administration - assist in managing corporate Active Directory, file share, and print services in collaboration with the IT Service Desk Team
- Health, Performance and Stability - perform routine systems health checks and proactive maintenance activities to ensure availability and reliability of systems; support the delivery of the patching and performance regime
- Capacity Management – assist in capacity planning, migration activities, and design tasks related to IT infrastructure supported solutions and services
- Security and Vulnerability - support security and vulnerability compliance and remediation of systems as guided by the Group Security Team, contributing to the continuance of Digicel’s ISO-27001 certification
Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology or related field
- ITIL v4 Foundation Certification is desirable.
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator or equivalent with Office 365 Administration skills would be an asset
- Experience with Microsoft SCCM would be an asset
- Knowledge of Meraki wireless solutions would be preferred
- Familiarity with Email Archiver and File Archiving Solutions such as MailMeter is desirable
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform is an advantage
- An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements
