Why this role matters:
Digicel is taking a huge step into the future, aiming to transform itself from a traditional telecommunications provider to our customers’ digital lifestyle partner. To execute on this strategy, Digicel is investing heavily in its BSS/OSS capability and moving to a converged charging/billing solution across all our CALA markets. To do this, we have recently kicked off a 3-year transformation programme.

We are hiring several IT Project Managers to execute on IT workstreams of this transformation, mostly covering systems and processes side of change. In this role, you will own end-to-end delivery of your respective workstream or work package, deliver related project reporting into overall programme governance, and own relationships with project and work stream stakeholders inside of Digicel’s IT community.

What you will be doing:

  • Executing IT workstreams or work packages of the BSS/OSS programme to agreed timelines, scope and budget
  • Working as part of a cross-functional project team, being accountable for IT-related deliverables and representing IT in communications with stakeholders from areas such as Technology, Digital, Commercial, Customer Care, Finance, HR etc.
  • Performing the relevant project management processes - i.e. initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control and close, as well as the supporting processes e.g. scope, cost, time, issue, risk, resource, communication and stakeholder management, etc.
  • Monitoring and controlling the work to ensure that projects remain on track and in control; planning for and managing change
  • Identifying project and work stream dependencies and risks, coming up with mitigation proposals for those
  • Leading, coaching and motivating other project team members

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Operate with limited oversight, taking accountability and ownership of your project, stream or work package deliverables
  • Act proactively, be hands-on and effective in problem solving
  • Propose and implement solutions, not stopping at issue identification
  • “Speak the same language” with your counterparts in IT
  • Build and manage effective relationships with key stakeholders inside and outside of IT, and represent IT confidently in these interactions
  • Build and manage effective relationship with vendor partners
  • Work well as part of a diverse, geographically spread, matrix-managed project team

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with a technical concentration (e.g. Computer Science)
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in managing IT projects
  • Past IT experience in hands-on capacity (e.g. software developer, database administrator, system integrator, infrastructure specialist etc.) would be very beneficial
  • Experience in managing system testing and UAT activities
  • Experience in managing data and user migration between different IT systems would be appreciated
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, with Project Management certification (e.g. PMP) being an advantage
