Primary objective of the job: 


Manage all VAT, Sales Tax and similar tax filings for an assigned batch of Group companies across multiple jurisdictions whilst ensuring that all internal and external deadlines are met.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for an assigned set of group companies/jurisdictions for which you will be responsible for all indirect tax compliance matters
  • Review draft calculations based on GL balances received from Finance SSC
  • Prepare all necessary reconciliations and checks to ensure accuracy of filings and balance sheet position for indirect tax for each assigned entity
  • Prepare returns and ensure submission of all assigned tax filings by the relevant deadline
  • Ensure payment of all indirect tax liabilities by the relevant deadline
  • Apply all available automation tools to improve efficiency and accuracy of the indirect tax process
  • Support culture of continuous improvement by following documented processes and suggesting changes to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness
  • Identify and escalate any issues in underlying systems tax configurations that require updating or improvement
  • The deadline-driven nature of the role will require some periods of intensive effort each month and so flexibility on working hours will be required to ensure all deadlines are met


Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:


  • University Degree
  • Professional Accounting qualification preferred
  • Tax qualification or prior experience in a wholly tax-related role is highly desirable
  • Experience in a role responsible for tax compliance across multiple entities
  • Experience in dealing with tax compliance in multiple jurisdictions is strongly preferred
  • Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment
  • Must be a self-starter who is able to work independently and interface with all relevant internal teams and external business partners as needed
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to proactively articulate progress, issues and recommendations in a concise manner to colleagues and managers
  • Superb attention to detail, strong analytical skills and the ability to deliver results to tight deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Prior knowledge and experience of working with ERP systems, ideally Workday Financials


Functional Skills:


  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to produce and maintain high quality trackers and dashboards to track status of tasks
  • Good practical knowledge of accounting fundamentals
  • Excellent academics and good commercial awareness are required
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Ability to work long hours at certain peak periods in order to ensure external filing deadlines are met
