Job Profile: Mediation & Application Systems Senior Engineer

 

Primary objective of the job: 

  • Conduct O&M procedures for Applications and Mediation Systems deployed across Markets in JAM-HUB and Interface with all internal and external support system level operations from Rating/Charging and transactions perspective.
  • Own KPI capacity management, administration and ticket handling related of the Ericsson Mediation Platform (EMM 7.X or 8.X), EMA 6.X or 7.X/15/16/18/20 and CRS4.X/5.X and non-Ericsson systems and Applications under VAS Deptt.  Aiming Systems and Service availability of 99.99 %, as per system design configurations.
  • Coordinate and communicate with key external stakeholders such as service development, business risk, network capacity and design teams to ensure necessary capacity planning for new system deployments, upgrades and incident management is managed.
  • Design and implement CDR decoding solutions and encode formatter for various downstream systems such as DWH/IT, Revenue Assurance, Roaming and Billing Platforms for CDR based reporting and billing requirements.
  • Order & Management, upgrades for Applications suite maintained by the Service Layer Team Jamaica. End to End Technical testing and UAT completion related to New system deployments or upgrades,
  • Integrations and support for the 3rd Party application systems towards Digicel’s Service Layer Applications for billing, charging and CDR processing.
  • System configuration related CDR solutions to support CDR based promotional platforms such as CAIN, LUMATA, and DDS/YO, MADS etc. or any new system that needs CDR based analysis for various charged or non-charged CDRs or System Records for all Markets under JAM-HUB.
  • Working closely with Technical solutions that needs other internal and external systems and stakeholders for VAS nodes integrations and CDRs.


 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Management

  • Prepare KPIs and reports, including weekly management reports and incident reports as required and present to assigned Manager or HOD
  • Creating schedules and O&M procedures for the relevant functions in the Team as well as auditing procedures for efficient operations
  • Working alongside Manager to upskill Engineers, new engineers in the team

 

 

Engineering

  • Lead design and recommend solutions to improve performance and network resilience related to Application Suites, Mediation System and 3rd party Integrations

Management

  • Prepare KPIs and reports, including weekly management reports and incident reports as required and present to assigned Manager or HOD.
  • Creating schedules and O&M procedures for the relevant functions in the Team as well as Auditing procedures for efficient operations.
  • Working alongside Manager to upskill Engineers, new engineers in the team.

 

Engineering

  • Lead design and recommend solutions to improve performance and network resilience related to Application Suites, Mediation System and 3rd party Integrations
  • Lead and guide team in adopting best practices in OAM and troubleshooting issues related to services and user experience
  • Analyze System logs, statistical load parameters and make recommendations for system optimization, expansion and upgrade
  • Supervise and assist where necessary in customer site preparation and acceptance testing of newly installed systems
  • Execute the assignments related the Application and Mediation for integrations/upgrades and deployments

 

Operations Administrations and Maintenance (OAM)

  • Supervise the performance of maintenance routines on all systems, including backup and health checks and disaster recovery procedures where applicable.
  • Node and Service fault management for timely resolution, mitigation of the impact, closure and RCA of the incidence.
  • Where faults are escalated, manage CSRs/tickets to ensure issues are addressed in a timely fashion (requires working relationship with vendors)
  • Create MOPs (Method of Procedures) and carry changes to the network elements for maintenance, repair, expansion, upgrade or new service setup.
  • Ensure adherence to the business processes for Change Control, Service Desk KPIs and Support ticketing protocols.
  • Ensure procedures are followed to minimize error in work
  • Keep all documentation, network diagrams and reference procedures updated as agreed with Manager.

 

Operations

  • Completing CDR reconciliations between Source and Downstream Systems for daily, weekly and monthly time periods as agreed with stakeholders
  • Carrying internal processes and procedures for Node maintenance, backups, documentations related to network topologies
  • Support Customer Care, Fraud/Business Risk (to add/remove users from system, investigate anomalies); Marketing (to configure systems parameters to product requirements); IT/ Operations with Ad HOC requests related to the application databases
  • Develop procedures and document procedures relating to all the above
  • Carry health check and audits of the Application or Mediation System assigned as per periodic requirements, under the guidance of Manager or HOD.

 

 

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • B.Sc. Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Engineering or Computer Science, Software Engineering and Master’s degree will be an additional asset
  • 4+ years working experience with Mediation and Activation/OSS/BSS
  • Expertise in OS/DB Management and Telecom/IT protocols
  • Excellent understanding of network interface protocols, data decoding and scripting skills
  • Ability to cross perform in multiple VAS domains, Mediation, Charging System, configuration management and Applications.
  • Workload management, team player, able to demonstrate leadership abilities and good presentation skills.

 

Functional Skills:

  • Mediation System & Charging System 16/17/18/20 OAM
  • Database Management (Oracle, Sybase, SQL etc.)
  • DB practices and software frameworks such as Hadoop, bigdata
  • Operating Systems (Unix, Linux, Windows) Administration
  • Data and Telecommunications
  • Software Engineering
  • GSM and LTE/WCDMA understanding
  • Interfaces, in depth understanding, SOAP, xml, REST, CLI, CAI
  • Excellent trouble shooting and problem analysis skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
