Primary objective of the job:
The Payroll Supervisor will oversee and supervise the organizations payroll functions, ensuring that pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate on recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new staff in the department
- Ensure that payroll is processed timely and accurately
- Review payroll calculations, deductions, insurance coverage, wage garnishments, tax filings, and child support
- Maintains or oversees the maintenance of employee records
- Address payroll related queries and requests from employees
- Provide support in tax calculation and filing for employees
- Ensures compliance with local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
- Review and recommend improvements to existing payroll procedures
- Analyse payroll problems and provide appropriate resolutions
- Performs other payroll related duties assigned on a need-to basis
- Oversee employee payroll accounting, transactions and reporting activities
- Provide assistance as well as constructive and timely performance evaluations to direct reports
- Handle discipline of employees in accordance with company policy
- Adhere and enforce adherence to the payroll SOP
Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required
- 4+ years of experience in payroll processing required with two years in a supervisory or management role preferred
