Job Title: Project Manager


Primary objective of the job: 

The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

  • The Project Manager will have end-to-end project management responsibilities for the Jamaica market
  • He/she will coordinate the projects from development to closure and will own all project results.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Initiates projects following appropriate project management methodology including gathering and defining comprehensive project requirements, ensuring for strategic alignment, developing project charters, project plans, budgets and schedules, determining staffing requirements, and forming cross-functional project teams
  • Ensure that all projects are defined against agreed standards and that the project scopes, goals, deliverables, resources, budgets and timelines are agreed and understood by all stakeholders
  • Assemble project teams based on the scope of projects assigned and ensure that each team member understands the expectations of each project
  • Hold kick off meeting and all other meetings to update all key stakeholders
  • Balances workload, provides technical and analytical guidance and work direction to project team, including scheduling, assignment of work, review of project efforts and removal of roadblocks which inhibit project success.
  • Secure all necessary approvals and guidance for the success of each project
  • Complete work breakdown structures and provide a project schedule to identify project timelines
  • Develop and manage the action lists and deliverables
  • Ensure all actions are done on time, correctly and deadlines are met
  • Drafts contracts and Service Level Agreements and manages RFIs/RFPs for evaluation, selection and procurement of products and/or services from vendors.
  • Identifies potential areas for improvement in current methodologies and provides coaching to project managers.
  • Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with project sponsors, vendors and key clients
  • Monitor and report on progress of each project, flagging all issues with relevant action owners
  • Ensure a successful launches as necessary
  • Act as mediator between stakeholders and team members, and resolve issues that develop during the project lifecycle
  • Lead, coach and motivate project team members
  • Present to the SMT as required
  • Assesses variances from the project plans, budgets and schedules, develops and implements changes as necessary to ensure that the project remains within specified scope and is within time, cost, and quality objectives, and keeps management aware of the situation
  • Evaluates and ensures for sponsor/client satisfaction at project completion.
  • Maintains appropriate professional designations and up-to-date knowledge of current information technology techniques and tools


Academic qualifications and experience required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Studies, Human Resources, Information Technology or related discipline
  • PMI - Project Management Professional Certification would be an asset
  • Proven Experience in Risk Management
  • Three (3) years' experience in a similar capacity in a medium or large corporation
