Report Developer


Primary objective of the job: 


This role has the following key global enterprise wide responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the design, build, maintenance and support of standard reports across a concise set of tools where the right tool is used for the right purpose (Workday, Worksheets and Adaptive). This includes report design for self-service reporting and maintenance of existing reports.
  2. The application to finance data of expertise in data transformation, reporting, visualisation and dashboarding to retain and make available insight on finance data at many levels through the right tool (currently leveraging Workday including dashboards, Worksheet and indirect inputs to Power BI )
  3. Global reporting administration for systems and tools for financial data analytics reporting and visualisation covering the design, development, build, maintenance and admin impacting reporting for the full suite of solutions (currently leveraging The Reporting Portal (Microsoft Sharepoint) which includes Report Finder application (web based application built using Python and Django), Microsoft excel including advanced VBA, and Workday (include Worksheets and Adaptive)
  4. Support training on the use of all data analytics, reporting and visualisation tools, and assisting the Group Commercial team in the training they provide to users where relevant that will impact reporting from the financial systems.
  5. Building, maintaining and supporting finance data models and reporting across multiple platforms to provide insight across all process areas including but not limited to Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting (PB&F), Record to Report (R2R) and Plan to Perform (P2P) such as revenue analysis, Quote to Cash (Q2C) such as cash collections reports, Source to Pay (S2P) including debtor ageing and provisioning 


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Manage preparation and consolidation of periodic reporting outputs.
  • Critically review reporting outputs to provide a clear understanding of business performance and levers.
  • Assist in the effective deployment of global performance reporting.
  • Design reports that are easily accessible and so that users can adjust according to the business requirements
  • Configuration of reports to existing databases so that information can be presented in a useful form to aid decision making
  • Configuration of systems to collect data across source systems to ensure that all relevant information can be accessed mechanism for best practice sharing (the latter to be in close liaison with Customer Experience).
  • Maintain the Report Finder and inventory of custom reports (whilst minimising local variation and deviation from leading practice design principles)
  • Support Change management request process for reporting and deliver according to Service Level Agreements (SLA)


Academic qualifications and experience required:


  • University degree required
  • Previous relevant experience in Accounting, Finance, Reporting or IT
  • Previous experience in leading data science projects and delivering from end to end
  • Previous experience in data mining and data analysis in relational databases and in the latest 3rd party data analytics software
  • Quantitative knowledge and skills, training in computer science, math and statistics preferable
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of Workday (include Worksheet and Adaptive) is very desirable
  • Advance financial modeling with VBA preferable
  • Understanding and experience with multi-currency reporting environment and the challenges this multi-currency environment provides including FX risk management reporting
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment of Financial reporting, data privacy and security
  • Understanding of cloud computing methodologies
  • Understanding of ETL (extract transformation and load) tools
  • Robust foundation of solution development methodologies for tailored approaches to data model and / or reporting solution development
  • Mindset for continuous improvement
  • Good understanding of techniques and best practices to deliver value in these areas which is evolving at a rapid rate


Functional Skills:


  • Strong communication skills to ensure that reports developed present information in an effective manner.
  • Strong ability to gather and disseminate business requirements and convert into a delivered reporting solution
  • The ability to ensure that report systems are presentable and can be used easily and effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills are essential to assess the business requirements to determine data required for the different report types
  • Problem solving abilities in understanding how to access data to produce effective reports
