Primary objective of the job: 

Senior Business Intelligence Analyst role work closely with customers and BI Analysts to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions. Data Analytics Engineers use business skills and analytical expertise to explore data and extract insights that is accurate, congruent and reliable and is easily accessible. They educate and train customers to use the data as an analytical tool, displaying the information in new form and content for the purpose of analysis and exploring options.

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for the full life cycle development, implementation, production support, and performance tuning of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Mart, and Business Intelligence Reporting environments, and support the integration of those systems with other applications. They are responsible for modelling complex business / consumer problems, discovering actionable insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques. In addition to advanced analytic skills, this role is also proficient at integrating and preparing large, varied datasets, architecting specialized database and computing environments, and communicating results. The data they provide helps business teams drive improvement in key business metrics, customer experience and business results.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive the transformation of raw data into actionable insights to support strategic business decision-making
• Champions the use of data analytics to solve complex business challenges and ensure that the organization's data analytics capabilities are aligned with its strategic objectives
• Continuously innovate and bring forth new methods and techniques to analyze vast data sets
• Lead optimization of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Mart, and BI Reporting environments to support advanced analytics
• Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives
• Train and educate stakeholders on the power of analytics, driving innovation and mentoring teams to create a robust data-driven decision-making environment
• Business Requirement & Analysis
  • Collaborate with BI & Business Analysts to understand business requirements needs, offering alternative data insights and modeling pertinent business scenarios
  • Analyzes business and functional requirements and translates these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions
  • Makes strategic recommendations on data collection, integration and retention requirements incorporating business requirements and knowledge of best practices
• Development / Implementation
  • Drive the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data, emphasizing the optimization of business metrics and customer experience. Lead in the creation and documentation of analytic models and BI solutions
  • Implements data structures using best practices in data modeling, processes, and technologies
  • Implements tools and frameworks for automating report generation, identification of data-quality issues, and data governance
  • Leads the integration efforts for merging BI platforms with enterprise systems and applications
  • Explores the data and discovers patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies, and trends
  • Performs programming analyses for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various platforms
  • Develops innovative and effective approaches to solve analytics problems and communicates results and methodologies
  • Leverage domain expertise in advanced statistical and predictive modelling to design and implement complex cross-functional data analysis
• Business Partnerships
  • Establish deep relationships with business partners and DA CoE to ensure effective technical solutions
  • Identify opportunities for closer integration between DA CoE and business unit
• Project Planning
  • Lead workstream planning, from inception to delivery of BI solutions
  • Develop, review, and ensure timelines meet business objectives
  • Anticipate service demand and manage resources accordingly
• Data Quality Assurance
  • Champion data quality, maintaining standards and ensuring the consistency of BI solutions
  • Recommends quality metrics and ensures quality metrics are documented and tracked
  • Troubleshoots BI solutions and daily performance and assist in performance tuning of BI solutions
  • Trouble shoots reported data reconciliation inconsistencies in data models and/or reports
  • Tracks, monitors and analyzes performance of production BI Solutions and implements improvements
• Research & Evaluation
  • Stay updated on emerging BI products/tools and industry best practices
  • Research and recommend optimal BI products and services
  • Aligns BI technologies with strategic initiatives
• Policies, Standards & Procedures
  • Recommend and implement data standards, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate with Data Stewards on compliance, access control, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Training and Documentation
  • Designs and delivers end-user training and training materials
  • Trains users, including executives, to transform data into action-oriented information and to use that information correctly
  • Mentor teams, fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation
  • Educates the organization both from IT and the business perspectives on new approaches and principles and drive organizational buy-in

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, Mathematics, or a related field. Master's degree is preferred
• Minimum of 7 years of technical experience, with at least 5 years in a major system

Functional Skills:

• Proficient in deriving solutions from loosely defined business challenges, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving acumen
• Exceptional team leadership and mentoring abilities, fostering collaboration and professional growth within teams
• Skilled in architecting and implementing medium to large scale BI solutions on Azure, utilizing a comprehensive suite of Azure Data Platform services
• Capable of assessing the current production state of applications and evaluating the impact of new implementations on existing business processes
• Proficient in developing cost-effective architectures in Azure, providing recommendations to optimize data infrastructure
• Experienced in designing, setting up, and maintaining Azure services, ensuring smooth operations of critical components
• Expertise in executing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes from diverse source systems to Azure Data Storage services, employing a variety of tools and languages
• Competent in developing and managing pipelines in Azure Data Factory, facilitating seamless data extraction, transformation, and loading from multiple sources
• Possesses a strong understanding of Spark Architecture and effectively develops Spark applications for data extraction, transformation, and aggregation
• Assumes responsibility for estimating cluster sizes, monitoring, and troubleshooting Spark Databricks clusters, optimizing performance parameters for efficiency
• Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, conveying complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders with clarity and precision
• Proven ability to drive organizational buy-in for data-driven initiatives, influencing stakeholders to embrace data-driven decision-making
• Expertise in data analysis, data mining, and statistical techniques, leveraging statistical packages and programming languages like SAS, R, or Python
• Familiarity with statistical packages, quantitative analytics, forecasting, and optimization algorithms, enabling informed decision-making and strategic planning
• Possesses solid industry knowledge and extensive experience leading teams, guiding them to deliver impactful results in alignment with organizational goals
