Job Summary

 

This is a role at the cutting edge of Digicel Group’s international business and legal strategy with a primary focus on carrier services related matters but with the flexibility to support the legal requirement of the business more generally. Key elements of the role -

  • Responsible for supporting all aspects of the International Business (including carrier relations) from a legal perspective
  • Drafting and negotiation of contracts for purchase and assignment of capacity, colocation, interconnection, international minutes, and a range of managed service requirements necessary to support the International Business.
  • Advising on rights and obligations under existing arrangements underpinning the International Business 
  • Work with other areas of the business to lead projects through to delivery
  • Provision of on-going regulatory advice in relation to all aspects of the International Business including renewals, terminations, and amendments to existing arrangements
  • Implementation of high-level strategies for International Business including the transfer and restructuring of activities across various Digicel markets.

 

Experience Required:

 

Candidates must have significant experience (at least 8 years) in contract negotiations, particularly contracting with an international dimension. Experience in the communications sector and of legal work on carrier services related issues will be a distinct advantage. In-house or law firm experience essential. The ideal candidate will combine a high level of technical legal ability (and be especially comfortable with multi-jurisdictional elements) with good commercial awareness and a high level of practicality.

 

Qualifications

 

Candidates should have a law degree from a Caribbean or other common law jurisdiction (including the UK and US) and have been admitted to practice in one or more jurisdictions.

 

Functional Skills:

 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Sharepoint & Docusign
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and working in a fast paced and constantly changing environment
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized and able to work independently with minimal direction/supervision
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and exercise sound judgment, discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
