Job purpose:

The O&M Supervisor is responsible for overseeing field operations, maintenance activities, and coordination of technical site services to ensure high network availability, reliability, and compliance. The role supervises field teams, manages maintenance schedules, supports troubleshooting across multiple disciplines (Electrical, RF, TX, ICT, Site Acquisition), and ensures proper coordination with vendors, contractors, site owners and internal departments.

The position also ensures that operational, financial, and administrative processes related to site maintenance are executed efficiently and in accordance with company standards.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision & Team Management
    1. Supervise and coordinate O&M Technicians and Field Engineers in daily operations.
    2. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to safety and operational standards.
    3. Provide on-the-job training and technical guidance to field teams.
  2. Maintenance & Operations Oversight
    1. Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical systems, generators, batteries, solar systems, and network infrastructure.
    2. Ensure timely resolution of site alarms, faults, and outages.
    3. Monitor site performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability.
    4. Facilitate and maintain contact with site owners and tribal communities
  3. Installation & Commissioning
    1. Supervise installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing of network and power equipment.
    2. Ensure installations comply with technical specifications and industry standards.
  4. Coordination of O&M Activities
    1. Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules across all sites.
    2. Ensure effective collaboration between RF, TX, ICT, and Electrical teams.
    3. Act as the primary point of contact for field-related operational issues.
  5. Vendor & Contractor Management
    1. Coordinate and supervise contractors performing maintenance, installations, and refuelling activities.
    2. Verify work completion and ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
  6. Documentation & Reporting
    1. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of maintenance activities, site status, and incidents.
    2. Maintain records of equipment, service history, and operational reports.
    3. Provide regular performance and incident reports to management.
  7. Compliance & Safety
    1. Ensure all activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and local regulations.
    2. Enforce proper use of tools, PPE, and safe working practices.
  8. Logistics & Support Activities
    1. Oversee generator refuelling schedules and temporary power solutions.
    2. Support emergency response activities to minimize network downtime.
    3. Ensure site cleanliness, accessibility, and proper environmental conditions.

 

Qualifications, knowledge & experience:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field
  • (A Technical Diploma with strong relevant experience can also be considered)

Experience

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in telecom operations, maintenance, or field engineering
  • At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or team lead role
  • Proven experience with telecom site infrastructure (towers, power systems, transmission, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of power systems (AC/DC), generators, UPS, batteries, and solar systems.
  • Experience with network infrastructure (RF, TX, ICT) is an asset.
