PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB

You are responsible for Mobile Financial Services Products, reporting to the Head of Mobile Financial Services Unit. You are responsible for the planning, development and promotion of all products in the Mobile Financial Services unit.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Managing Planning and Roll Out of Product Enhancements and New Products
    • Understand and document commercial priorities for enhancements and new products
    • Devise a product roadmap according to commercial priorities
    • Be responsible for the communication of product / enhancements launches to commercial stakeholders
    • Be responsible for ensuring training of stakeholders is carried out for each product / enhancement launch

 

  1. Innovation
    • Fully understand current and potential future product use cases and explore improvements to enhance product usage
    • Understand commercial potential for new products or enhancements and provide forecast models grounded in sound consumer and market research
    • Good understanding of product lifecycle implications and is able to tailor product decisions to the right stage of a product vis-a-vis consumer needs
    • Understand business model for MFS and take part in discussions around pricing and new revenue generating opportunities
    • Investigate and maintain up to date knowledge on product innovations in other countries and companies in Mobile Money and the mobile industry in general. Collate and share ideas and relevant lessons from this

 

  1. Offer Design and Marketing
    • Develop strategic promotional and marketing plans, with a clear view on impact measurement and expected impact
    • Develop campaigns to target specific groups of customer segments (e.g., Loyal customers, non-transacting customers, specific usage segments etc.)
    • Design promotions and offers for MFS consumers
    • Gather internal approvals for promotions and offers
    • Brief all internal and external stakeholders on promotions and offers so that they can support customers appropriately
    • Work with Brands team to plan marketing campaigns for offers and promotions
    • Brief all internal and external stakeholders on new products so that they can support customers appropriately
    • Work closely with MFS New Products & Technology Manager to understand enhancements and new products to be rolled out.
    • Work with Brands team to plan appropriate marketing campaigns around new products.
    • Be primary liaison between MFS Commercial Team and Brands team in the requisition of new artworks for marketing collateral
    • Work closely with Supply Chain team to source marketing collateral of a high quality and competitive price
    • Work with MFS Customer Acquisition and Channel Teams to plan consumption of marketing goods and when orders and receipting of goods should take place to ensure sufficient stock for all planned activities
    • Oversee inventory management to ensure sufficient stock of marketing collateral
    • Manage MFS social media campaigns
    • Plan MFS press coverage
    • Work with Brands Team to track consumption of marketing slots, analyze marketing exposure and determine impact on product usage and uptake
    • Manage relationships with all marketing and sponsorship partners, including creation of MOUs and Terms of Reference, validation that contract is fulfilled, ensuring partners have all support required from MonCash to perform to the agreement
    • Customer lifecycle management, ensuring that appropriate churn reduction strategies are implemented at each point.

 

  1. Consumer Understanding
    1. Be primary liaison between MFS Commercial Team and Customer Understanding Team
    2. Design customer research studies to understand customer needs, preferences and perceptions
    3. Design impact assessments to determine efficacy of marketing campaigns and promotions
    4. Oversee enumeration of customer understanding research, working closely with Customer Understanding Team
    5. Analyze customer understanding data to present learnings and recommendations
    6. Plan and conduct mystery shopping exercises to ascertain quality of MFS services provided

 

  1. Market Intelligence
    1. Be aware of and investigate the activities of competition in the market, propose counter activities and learnings from competitor efforts
    2. Explore new avenues and potential partnerships for raising awareness of MFS via sponsorship or partnership

 

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Management, or a related field.

• 3 to 5 years of experience in product management, ideally in the FinTech, telecom, or financial services sector.

• Solid understanding of the product lifecycle and MFS business models.

• Excellent planning, communication, and project management skills.

• Innovative, creative, and analytical skills.

• Proficiency in Excel, CRM, and marketing performance tracking tools.

• Ability to work independently in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.

• Collaborative, rigorous, and results-oriented.
