Primary objective of the job: 
The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Business Intelligence team with a strong business acumen and the technical skills necessary to uncover and present insights to various business stakeholders throughout the region. This position will report to the Head of Commercial.

 

The Business Intelligence Analyst will transform data from multiple sources into clear, actionable insights that drive commercial performance across our DB portfolio. The role will own the end-to-end life cycle in Power BI (from preparation and modeling to DAX development, visualization, security and stakeholder requirements across teams including product, pricing, finance and strategy.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and understand the drivers by cohort and provide insight into which product/features are most effective in increasing retention and engagement
  • Design interactive dashboards and paginated reports that enable self-service exploration, guided analysis, and executive storytelling for commercial performance
  • Make insightful suppositions after gathering and analyzing the data that translates business objectives into measurable KPIs and report requirements with variating stakeholders
  • Facilitates the validation and testing of new or revised reports. Works with users to verify results and content, develop errors or exception reports when applicable and receives official user sign off on completed work
  • Tracks, documents, and facilitates resolution of all reporting technical issues. Keeps problem resolution log and proactively manages growth and utilization of analytic reporting products
  • Document solutions (data lineage, KPI definitions, user guides) and train business users to increase adoption of BI assets and data-driven decision-making
  • Support in the development of internal best practices for data warehouse/BI administration, meta data management, and data modeling.
  • Secondary responsibility for maintenance of all on-line production reports produced within Business Intelligence to optimize performance
  • Participates in the evaluation of BI utilities and tools
  • Other duties and projects as assigned and serve on project teams as required

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Data Analytics, Business and/or Statistics or a related field required.
  • A master’s degree will be an asset in related field
  • Microsoft Certification in Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL300)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an IT Business Analyst, Data Analyst or related IT position required
  • Microsoft O365 suite of applications

 

Functional Skills:

  • Proficiency with Power BI Desktop/Service, including advanced data visualization techniques
  • Perform report and data production queries, data manipulation skills using SQL, and DAX (Power BI), Python/R and Power Query (cleaning, transforming data)
  • Proficient in SQL and relational databases to extract, shape, and model data
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts and data warehousing principles
  • Collaboration with data engineers, department heads, to align BI with strategic goals
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
