Job Title: Open Market Executive

 

 

Primary objective of the job: 

 

The Open Market Executive is responsible for driving the growth, efficiency, and execution of the open market sales channel, by managing a network of independent point of sales, distributors, and field sales teams. This role ensures high market penetration, brand visibility, and revenue contribution from prepaid and low-cost consumer segments. The Open Market Executive will also play a critical part in network expansion and the growth of partnerships within the channel strategy.

 

           

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement go-to-market strategies for prepaid and mass consumer offerings.
  • Lead day-to-day operations of the open market channel, including merchant acquisition, training, and performance tracking.
  • Manage relationships with key distributors, point of sales, and third-party partners to ensure consistent availability of products and services (SIMs, top-ups, devices).
  • Monitor sales performance metrics and execute initiatives to close gaps and exceed channel targets.
  • Work closely with Trade Marketing to deploy effective in-store branding and promotional campaigns across the territory.
  • Ensure alignment between field force operations, product supply, and customer experience teams.
  • Support designing and implementing commission models and incentive plans for channel partners.
  • Conduct regular market visits to validate execution and collect competitive intelligence.
  • Oversee compliance with operational standards, product visibility guidelines, and contractual terms.
  • Audit and track distributors' performance and compliance with guidelines and contracts.

 

 

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

 

  • A minimum of two (2) years in commercial roles, preferably in telecom, FMCG, or retail distribution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Demonstrated success in leading multi-channel initiatives and working within matrix organizations.
  • Proven record of enhancing brand visibility and executing at scale.

 

 

Functional Skills:

 

  • Strong commercial acumen, relationship management, field execution, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Project management and multitasking in high-paced environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with multicultural team collaboration experience.
  • Fluent communication skills; capable of presenting to senior leadership and engaging field teams.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel regularly within assigned territory.
  • Analytical capabilities to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in marketing tools, CRM, and Excel-based reporting dashboards.
