Job Title: Radio Frequency(RF) Engineer

Location: Trinidad & Tobago

 

 

 

Primary objective of the job: 

 

 

As the Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer you will be responsible for planning indoor solutions, implementing, optimizing and maintaining the mobile radio network to improve mobile coverage and quality of network services. You will focus on conducting radio network optimization practices, drive testing, number traces and other analyses to ensure network quality exceeds target KPIs. Routines and reports will be required to represent the state of the network with appropriate actions taken to address exceptions. Additionally, investigation and resolution of customer complaints is required.

 

 

 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Continuously seeks and capitalizes on opportunities to exceed the expectations of customers (internal and external) by placing a keen interest on understanding and effectively resolving customer-impacting issues in a professional and result-oriented manner.
  • Routines (Daily, Weekly and Monthly): Conduct routines to monitor the status of all cells on the network and complete corrective actions on any problems found
  • Radio Network Optimization: Continually improve radio network performance indicators, to improve accessibility, retainability and integrity based on target KPIs by optimizing cell sites. This includes regular review of the network parameters and features to ensure optimal performance.
  • Corporate Solutions Planning and Design: Independently, using drive test data, predictive tools and network information, identify the ideal location for expanding both the coverage and capacity of the network to improve overall network experience. 
  • Site Surveys: Visits potential sites with other members of the Technical department to determine suitability for all concerned and site specifications
  • Reports: Prepare reports to reflect the results of optimization actions/projects as well as new solution planning justifications
  • Drive Testing:
    • Of New Sites: Using drive test software measure performance indicators of newly deployed sites, to assess optimum configuration of the physical installation and software configuration of the RBS.
    • Of the Network: This covers drive testing of the network as it related to comparative drive testing, network upgrades and optimization changes.
  • KPIs: Preparation and analysis of KPI reports reflecting the state of the network to the business and other stakeholders
  • Customer Complaints: Investigate, analyze and where possible deploy solutions to deal with customer complaints. Document all solutions required to resolve customer issues.

Academic qualifications and experience required:

 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Communications Engineering or Applied Physics.
  • A minimum of 1-5 year experience in a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of Mobile Radio Planning and Optimization practices would be an asset.
  • An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
