Job Title: Radio Frequency (RF) Manager
Primary objective of the job:
The Radio Frequency Manager is responsible for managing the Radio Frequency Team of three (3) whilst providing effective and efficient technical support for the Capacity & Planning and Operations & Maintenance teams. He/she will be responsible for the radio network performance/experience and will conduct optimization, configuration, corrections and monitoring to maintain and improve the network KPIs. He/she must exemplify proper co-ordination amongst subordinates and ensure that each staff member has received adequate training to fulfil his/her duties.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervision of the team of radio network engineers
- Setting the radio team objectives to align with the department and company goals
- The development/transformation of the radio team to meet todays and future business needs. Accomplished through recruitment, training, mentoring, coaching and other people initiatives geared towards achieving the department and company’s vision and mission. The maintenance and improvement of the mobile customer experience. Example of team supporting activities include process development and revision, achievement of KPI and SLA targets, actioning and escalation of radio faults, tweaking of the existing network through RF optimization and the execution of mobile network enhancement projects
- Reporting of the weekly activities of the radio team
- Efficient utilization of the company resources both human and financial
- Communications between other teams and the department at the managerial level. He/she is expected to build and maintain effective relations that will help to gain the necessary support to complete their responsibilities
- Opex and Capex planning and forecasting for the operation of the radio team
- Engagement and escalation of support internal and external to conduct the day to day operations of the Radio Team
- Supporting the corporate sales teams in addressing network performance issues affecting high value customers, this includes the deployment of repeaters, microcells and pole site to solve capacity and coverage issues
- Projects – Business case preparation and submission for approval. Actively working with the Strategy and Architecture team in the project planning and design stages. Managing the implementation, requisitions and financials associated
- Projects - Active engagement of internal and external stakeholders, including legal, Commercial, Finance and 3rd party contractors
- Works closely with Legal team and Regulatory bodies as it pertains to spectrum, mobile concessions, renewals and reconciliations
- Works closely with the Procurement team to ensure site compliance and risk management. Ensuring revenue protection of established mobile sites
- Planning and Strategy – works closely with strategy and architecture in addressing operational issues e.g. RX Path Imbalance.
Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree AND related certification OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- 4-6 years experience performing similar role/duties
- Experience in and with the mobile telecommunications sector would be considered a valuable asset
- An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements
- Master’s Degree in Technology Engineering will be an asset.
Functional Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- High Skills – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Knowledge of a second language (Spanish, French, etc.) would be considered a valuable asset.
Working conditions:
- Predominantly 8am – 5pm; may be required to work outside the set work hours to meet deadlines where necessary
- Expected to operate within an “open” concept office environment.
