Main objectives of the job: 

The incumbent will have overall legal responsibility for the Digicel Business portfolio within the Digicel Group. Digicel Business is the corporate sales (B2B) portfolio of Digicel and includes a wide variety of technology products such as, mobile services, connectivity services, networking services, internet of things, unified communications and collaboration services, and surveillance and security services, across all Digicel markets around the Caribbean. The incumbent will be required to play a pivotal role in providing strategic legal counsel, and managing legal risks associated with our business services operations.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice to senior executives and stakeholders on legal matters affecting the business services division
  • Review contracts in an efficient manner at a high standard and provide guidance on contracts that adheres to company and industry best practices
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of legal strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Work closely with external counsel when necessary and represent the company's interests in legal proceeding
  • Handle legal disputes and litigation related to the operations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and technology, to ensure alignment on legal matters

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • LL.B Law degree with current practicing certificate
  • A minimum of at least 6 years post qualification experience in commercial law
  • Experience in technology or telecommunications law is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with a wide variety of stakeholders in a multi-lingual, international environment.
  • A proactive and highly-organized approach to managing multiple and competing priorities within a fast-paced working environment, maintaining attention to detail within strict deadlines.
  • A confident yet diplomatic approach always exhibiting strong professionalism with colleagues and externally.
  • Advanced negotiation and conflict management skills
