Primary objective of the job:
The Solution Architect – UC & B2B is responsible for the architecture, standardization and technical governance of Digicel’s Unified Communications and B2B network solutions across the Caribbean region. The role sits within the network technology organization and is accountable for ensuring that UC and B2B services are designed, evolved and governed as scalable, secure, cost-effective and operationally supportable network capabilities.The scope includes UC platforms, SIP services, enterprise voice, contact centre enablement, collaboration services, SD-WAN, B2B IP services, LAN/WAN integration, cloud connectivity, hosting connectivity, security integration and managed ICT network capabilities.
The role provides technical leadership across the full network solution lifecycle, including technology strategy, roadmap development, architecture definition, design governance, vendor evaluation, capacity and lifecycle planning, budget input, project steering, implementation support, operational handover and Tier-3 technical escalation.The role reports directly to the Director of Technology Architecture and Projects and operates within Digicel’s multi-domain architecture function. It will work closely with network domain architects, engineering, operations, product, commercial, security, vendors and market technology teams to ensure UC and B2B services are technically sound, commercially viable and aligned with Digicel’s enterprise and network strategy.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain architecture standards, design rules and reference architectures for UC and B2B network services
- Develop and govern HLDs, LLDs, technical blueprints and implementation guidelines for UC, SIP, enterprise voice, contact centre, SD-WAN, IP, Transport, cloud connectivity, hosting and managed ICT network capabilities
- Ensure all solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, commercially viable and aligned with Digicel’s network, enterprise and operational strategies
- Support UC and B2B technology roadmaps, including platform evolution, capacity planning, lifecycle management, modernization and decommissioning of legacy platforms
- Provide architecture input into annual budgeting, CAPEX planning, business cases, platform renewals, upgrades and expansion requirements
- Lead technical input into vendor evaluations, RFQs, RFPs and solution assessments, ensuring vendor proposals are fit for purpose and operationally supportable
- Challenge vendor designs, assumptions, dependencies, delivery approaches and technical risks to protect Digicel’s operational and commercial interests
- Provide architecture oversight during project execution, including review of technical scope, design packs, MOPs, test plans, acceptance criteria and operational readiness
- Work with network domain architects, engineering, operations, product, commercial, security, vendors and market technology teams to ensure end-to-end service capability
- Support Tier-3 technical escalation for complex UC and B2B network issues, ensuring lessons learned are reflected in future architecture standards and designs
- Ensure proper operational handover for new or changed services, including monitoring, alerting, service assurance, support responsibilities and escalation paths
- Provide network-side technical input and assurance for customer bids, tenders and complex B2B opportunities, including solution validation, technical response content, design assumptions, risks, dependencies and delivery feasibility
- Maintain clear architecture documentation, technical decisions, risks, assumptions, dependencies and knowledge transfer across Group and market teams
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering or a related technical discipline
- Cisco CCNP / CCIE or equivalent IP networking certification
- Microsoft Teams Phone, Microsoft 365, Azure or related Microsoft cloud/voice certification
- SIP / SBC platform certification or practical experience with Ribbon, Oracle, Cisco, AudioCodes or equivalent platforms
- Fortinet, Check Point or equivalent security certification
- SD-WAN certification or strong platform experience
- ITIL or service management certification
- Cloud certification or working knowledge of AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
- 8+ years’ experience in telecoms, enterprise ICT, unified communications, B2B network services or solution architecture
- Strong experience designing or governing UC, SIP, enterprise voice, SD-WAN, IP networking, cloud connectivity, hosting connectivity, security integration or managed ICT services
- Experience working in a carrier, ISP, managed services provider, systems integrator or large enterprise technology environment
- Proven experience developing technical designs, architecture standards, HLDs, LLDs, RFP/RFQ requirements and technical responses for complex customer bids or tenders
- Experience working with vendors, market technology teams, product, commercial, operations and project delivery teams
- Experience supporting budget planning, capacity planning, lifecycle management, platform renewals, upgrades and operational handover
