JOB TITLE- IP Operations Engineer
Primary objective of the job:
Ensure the stability and reliability of the mobile network's IP infrastructure, minimizing downtime and disruptions to deliver seamless services to customers.
Support the expansion and growth of the mobile network by designing and implementing IP solutions to accommodate increasing demands and new technologies.
Collaborate with security teams to implement and enforce robust IP security measures to safeguard the network against potential threats and cyberattacks.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and implement IP-based network solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, to support various network functions.
- Proactively monitor the IP network, identify, and resolve network issues, and perform root cause analysis to prevent future incidents.
- Continuously optimize the IP network to enhance performance, capacity, and efficiency, ensuring the best possible user experience.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate IP infrastructure with other network components and maintain accurate documentation of network configurations and changes.
- Provide technical support and rapid response to IP-related incidents, participating in an on-call rotation as necessary.
Academic qualifications and experience required for the job:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Telecommunications, or a related field. Equivalent experience and certifications will also be considered.
- Proven experience minimum of 5 years in the design, implementation, and maintenance of IP networks in a telecommunications or mobile network environment
- Strong understanding of IP networking protocols, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, TCP/IP, and VLANs.
- Familiarity with network security principles, VPN, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
Functional Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex IP network issues.
- Proficiency in using network monitoring and diagnostic tools to analyse network performance and identify bottlenecks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- A passion for staying up to date with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies in the IP networking space
Financial Responsibility:
- Support managing budgetary aspects related to IP infrastructure projects and ensuring cost-effective solutions are implemented without compromising network quality and security.
