Job purpose:

Under minimal supervision perform basic to advanced troubleshooting and repair for services from Head End to Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) for residential and commercial customers. Complete disconnects, downgrades, upgrades, reconnect, and installations as/if business needs dictate. Primary focus will be on the installation, performance and maintenance of the Fiber Optic network.

 

Key Objectives:

Installation and maintenance of the Fibre network

 

Main accountabilities:

  • To perform site surveys as requested
  • To install and maintain entire Fibre Optic network from the headend to the customer premises
  • Create and maintain proper documentation of fibre network to include patch panels, slice enclosures and outdoor cabinets
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex residential and commercial business customer service from the FAT to the connection of the CPE
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of OSP infrastructure to ensure continued reliability and performance.
  • Perform quality control inspection by reviewing work completed by contract partners
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure OSP infrastructure meets industry standards and performance requirements.
  • Oversee OSP projects from initiation to completion, managing timelines and resources
  • Follow security procedures to prevent any unauthorized service

 

Qualifications, knowledge & experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years+ broadband technician or equivalent work experience
  • 6 months+ broadband technology or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years + experience or like certification in fibre splicing
  • Knowledge of company products and services

 

Functional skills and abilities:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person or on the phone and clear written communication , straight forward and professional manner
  • Ability to use the following hand tools, electric drills, hammers, wrenches and screwdrivers
  • Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while caring tools and equipment including gaffs, ladders and fully loaded tool belts
  • Ability to climb pools using gaffs, hooks and climbing belts as needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
