Primary objective of the job:
The Head of Commercial will lead the commercial strategy and development of the organization to ensure sustainable growth and competitive advantage in the market. Responsible for driving revenue generation, enhancing customer satisfaction, and fostering strategic partnerships. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the telecommunications industry and a proven track record in commercial leadership.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy aligned with the organization's vision and goals.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities.
Revenue Generation:
- Own the consumer P&L and forecast
- Lead initiatives to increase sales and profitability across all consumer product lines and services.
- Oversee pricing strategies and promotional campaigns to maximize market penetration.
Customer Engagement:
- Drive customer experience initiatives to enhance satisfaction and retention.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations.
Sales Leadership:
- Manage and mentor the sales team to achieve individual and team targets.
- Foster a culture of high performance and accountability within the sales organization.
Market Development:
- Identify and pursue new market opportunities, including emerging technologies and services.
- Lead the marketing to create effective brand and go-to-market strategies.
Partnership Management:
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with other companies, vendors, and stakeholders to enhance service offerings.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements that align with the organization's objectives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the technical and finance teams to ensure alignment on commercial objectives.
- Facilitate communication across departments to support a unified approach to market challenges.
Performance Measurement:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of commercial initiatives.
- Monitor and report on sales performance, market share, and customer feedback.
Team Development:
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing commercial team.
- Promote continuous learning and professional development within the team.
Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards in all commercial activities.
- Uphold the organization’s ethical standards and corporate governance principles.
Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Operations, Finance or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ management experience in a commercial, sales, marketing, operations or related leadership environment.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth, profitability and cost optimization.
- Strong commercial, financial and analytical acumen, with experience managing budgets and interpreting performance data.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, project management and translating strategy into measurable results.
- Strong understanding of the local market, customer dynamics and commercial opportunities.
- Proven leadership capability, with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong operational excellence mindset, with the ability to improve processes, performance and execution.
- Excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage effectively at C-Level and Board level.
- Strong decision-making skills, initiative and ownership, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Highly organised, results-oriented and commercially driven, with a strong focus on achieving targets and delivering sustainable business outcomes.
