ICT Technical Engineer

 

Primary Objective of the job:

The ICT Technical Engineer is responsible for working with the Technical team towards implementing the ICT product sold to clientele by Digicel Sales team in the ICT arena. It will involve the implementation, configuration and maintenance of ICT solutions across the corporate account base and other suitable customers. The position will involve all aspects of ICT product implementation, configuration and maintenance. Avaya and Cisco certification in implementation of infrastructure and equipment for Data architecture, PBX/Voice architecture, Unified Communications and Video implementations is desired but not required. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a track record of achievement in previous roles providing implementation and maintenance in the ICT—Voice/PBX, Data and Video—arena.

 

Main Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work to implement and maintain the ICT products sold by Digicel’s Sales Team
  • Provide support in the design and deployment (Pre and Post) advice to Digicel’s Sales team of ICT Products where needed
  • Support the ICT Solutions Sales team on several ICT implementation and/or maintenance opportunities
  • Act as a technical resource to both internal and external clients
  • Provide technical support for all Business Voice, Private Circuits, Internet, Cloud Services, IP PBX and other Digicel ICT services
  • Work with internal and external resources to provide support in the developing of solutions for ICT corporate clients
  • Interface directly with customers on technical issues where necessary
  • Attend customer sites providing technical support to Digicel team where and when needed
  • Assist in the design of networks, services, systems architecture, systems as well as the development and integration of technical ICT solutions
  • Primary activities will include configure, install, testing, integrating, troubleshooting, provide support and maintain of the ICT solutions
  • Secondarily activities would be to provide support in the analysis, design and development for all Digicel ICT product.
  • Moreover activities include support and analysis of the FTTx services, including footprint, SLD, SM HLD and overall product and services.

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Higher professional Education or equivalent combination of education in a related field of study.
  • Engineering/Science degree desirable but not essential
  • At least three (3) years’ experience performing in a similar role / duties.
  • Experience in and with the mobile telecommunications sector would be considered a valuable asset.
  • An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
  • Knowledge of ICT-related hardware and software applications
  • CSE & CCNA Cisco certifications, Avaya Certifications and/or further technical qualifications

 

Functional Skills:

  • Strong LAN/WAN design and implementation skills
  • Strong Storage and Virtualization Architectures skills
  • Strong IP Voice Architecture skills
  • Switching & Routing (CISCO preferred)
  • Strong TCP/IP
  • Hands on Knowledge of PBX technologies mainly IP, Hybrid and Analogue from Multiple Vendors for integration solutions
  • Comprehensive GSM knowledge to tailor complex corporate solutions
  • Ability to present at board level to Corporate clients
  • Meet the agreed customer engagement target

  • Demonstrated ability in copywriting, business writing, editing and production of marketing materials.
