Job purpose:
The Quality Control & Assurance (QC&A) Specialist ensures the integrity, reliability, and performance of fiber optic network installations, maintenance, and operations. This role involves monitoring and enforcing quality standards, conducting inspections, identifying defects, and implementing corrective actions to maintain compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and customer expectations.
Key Objectives:
- Ensure the fiber network meets technical specifications and company quality standards.
- Identify and address any defects or inefficiencies in fiber deployment, maintenance, and operation.
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement in network reliability, installation techniques, and maintenance processes.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Provide technical support and training to field teams on best practices.
Main accountabilities:
- Conduct inspections and audits of fiber optic network installations and maintenance work.
- Identify and document any defects, installation issues, or deviations from design specifications.
- Provide technical guidance to field teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure best practices.
- Investigate service disruptions, customer complaints, and network faults related to quality issues.
- Recommend corrective actions and improvements based on inspection findings.
- Provide feedback to project managers, engineers, and technicians to improve future deployments.
Qualifications, knowledge & experience:
- Hands-on experience with fiber optic testing tools (OTDR, Power Meter, Light Source, VFL).
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Track record of outstanding success in fibre roll
- Deep expertise in Outside Plant roll-out
- Experience on fibre rollout projects using microducts and micro-trenching
Functional skills and abilities:
- Strong understanding of fiber optic installation standards, splicing, and testing techniques.
- Ability to analyze test data and troubleshoot network issues.
- Attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Flexible and adaptable in a challenging, demanding and fast paced environment
- Strong ability to multi-task
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
